Precision Built Marine Engines In Stock Ready To ShipCOVID-19 NOTICE
The global Covid-19 pandemic has caused multiple supply chain disruptions for the automotive industry. We are currently facing a shortage for parts, cores, and other components for our marine, high performance, and stock replacement engines.
While we are still able to accommodate most of our customers needs, some engines are unavailable or may take longer for us to build up due to these shortages. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause in the short term.
The last thing you want when you’re on the water is to have engine troubles.
Perhaps your existing engine has limited hours left on it and you need a rebuild, or a severe winter has left you with a cracked block and heads. We’ve got you covered.
Experts in marine repowering and rebuilding for over 30 years in Vancouver BC.
The machining and assembly experts at Canadian Crate Engines can help you get back on the water with full confidence in your boat’s boat engine so you can relax knowing you’ll get to where you want to go without any engine problems.
All marine engines are built to the highest quality standards, using the highest quality parts.
We offer ready to go packages for Chevrolet, Ford, and Chrysler marine engines.
We also have options for:
- Mercruiser
- Volvo Penta
- Indmar
- Crusader
We have precision built marine engines in stock and ready to ship.
Our entire marine division crate motors are built using the highest quality parts (no offshore parts whatsoever) and to exacting marine specifications.
Each engine is precision balanced (to reduce strain on internal components under prolonged RPM) and each engine is thoroughly dyno tested before it is shipped to you.
A boat engine is similar to a truck hauling a load driving up a steep hill – it’s under a severe load at all times.
This requires specific engine clearances and tolerances in order to dissipate heat and accommodate for the abuse marine engines take.
We have over 30 years of experience in the marine industry so make no mistake, we are the marine crate motor experts.
We offer ready to ship crate engines for most makes and models of marine engine. Check out our stock list below. If you don’t see your engine listed, please contact us and we will find an option that works for your needs!

Engine casting numbers are identifying marks manufacturers create on the block or head of an engine. These numbers are in the die cast mold and are part of each engine the mold produces. Using the casting number ensures selection of the correct parts.
BLOCK CASTING NUMBERS
Block casting numbers are not always easy to find. Sometimes grease or grime could be covering them and you might have to clean a part of the block before you can be able to see them. These numbers are also hard to read when the engine is still in the vehicle/boat. You could try using a mirror if the casting number is located in an area that is hard to see or reach.
Block casting numbers do not have any letters in them with the exception of FORD engines (ex. E4AE) and the metric model of the GM 4.3L (262 cid) which ends by 090M.

WHERE TO LOOK TO FIND THE CASTING NUMBER
For CHEVY engines, the block casting number is usually located on a ledge found at the rear of the block and has 6 to 8 digits. This ledge is located near the bellhousing. Sometimes the last three digits of the block casting number are cast into the block on the side. The most important numbers in a casting number are the last 3 digits.
HEAD CASTING NUMBERS
The head casting number is located on the top of the cylinder head. The valve covers must be removed to find the number. Keep in mind that if you remove the valve covers, new gaskets may be needed.
